Jeff Fleming Big Sky Carvers “Petey Bear” #1841 – Hand Crafted! . Petey is a hand carved bear made by Jeff Fleming for Big Sky Carvers and he stands 13 1/4 inches tall. We have owned Petey for at least 20 years! Petey is made of solid western pine. Petey has no scuffs, blemishes or other issues. Petey has a metal tag on his right side towards the bottom and a Certificate of Craftsmanship from the State of Montana Department of Artisans taped to the base, (see picture). After 20 years, Petey is ready to venture out and find a new home. If you like carved bears, this is a great one for your collection or to have on it’s own. Just an adorable and hard to find, carved wood black bear Jeff Fleming? By Big Sky Carvers. Meant to hang, either on a deck railing, window sill, etc let your imagination go wild! Its a large sized piece, 23 inches long by 7 inches wide by 7 inches deep, has predrilled holes on his paws, ready to go. I do not believe this piece has actually been hung, there are no wood burrs to indicate otherwise. I bought it from someone who said they didnt use it, and I know I havent used it. I wish I could but my deck gets a tremendous amount of sun and I really would rather it be well taken care of. So, its a hand made piece, as such there are small imperfections. Also, I dont know where the white rub came from, its not that noticeable but again, its there. There is also a small piece of wood out near the back ear, it looks like it came out from where the knot in the wood is located. I cannot confirm if the extra paint around happened at manufacture or after. I know I didnt do it! Its a spectacular piece, Im nit-picking to make sure the next owner is just as happy as I was to have it, even if I couldnt get it mounted.
